Clay Characterization and Bleaching of Crude Palm Oil Using Acid-Activated Nibo Clay

چکیده
Acid-activated Nibo clay was applied as an adsorbent in the bleaching of crude palm oil. The collected sample activated with hydrochloric acid solution after it sun-dried and ground. raw (NC) (ANC) samples were characterized using XRF, SEM, FTIR analyses. efficiency process examined by varying dosage, temperature contact time. results analyses on NC ANC showed that clays kaolinites significant changes activation. experiment increase improved process. highest 86% observed. pseudo-second-order model best described adsorption at 100 °C when compared to correlation coefficient values pseudo-first-order, Intra-particle diffusion Elovich kinetic models. Temkin isotherm fitted experimental data than Langmuir, Freundlich Dubinin-Radushkevich models R2 >0.9 all temperatures. enthalpy entropy evaluated 54,943.90 J/mol 154.6321 respectively. indicated endothermic randomness solid/liquid interface. negative Gibb’s free energy 363 373 K implied beta carotene oil these temperatures spontaneous feasible. This study can be for higher temperatures.

Bleaching of Vegetable Oil using Organic Acid Activated Fuller’s Earth (Bentonite Clay)
Vegetable oil is one of the basic food items which is consumed by almost every human being in this universe. Therefore quality of vegetable oil should be good enough so that it accounts for healthy life. In vegetable oil manufacturing there are four major steps involved which are neutralization, degumming, bleaching and deodorization. Among these steps bleaching is the very important and critic...

The structural and bleaching properties of nitric acid-activated Nteje clay was studied to investigate its ability to serve as an alternative to the high cost imported bleaching earth. The clay was mined, sun-dried, grinded, and reacted with different concentrations of nitric acid, ranging from 2 mol.L-1 to 15 mol.L-1. The un-activated and activated samples were characterized to study the struc...
متن کاملThermal Reactivation of a Spent Bleaching Clay: Kinetic and Thermodynamic
Spent bleaching clay from the oil refining industry was subjected to heat regeneration in a box furnace with air. The heat reactivation was conducted without previous extraction of residual oil and with previous extraction of oil using organic solvent. The experimental temperature ranged from 723 at 873 K. A model for the kinetic of thermal reactivation of spent adsorbent has been proposed. The...

متن کاملAqueous Solutions by Using Hebba Clay and Activated Carbon
The adsorption capacity of hebba clay and activated carbon towards (Fe 3+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+ , Pb 2+ , Cr 3+ , Cd 2+ ) metal ions was studied. The adsorption capacity was investigated by batch experiment. The effect of weight of hebba was studied and the results showed that the removal percentages increased as the weight of sorbent increased. The effect of contact time was also studied and the res...
